Story
High in the hills of southern India, a group of artisans toil away, creating jaw-dropping patterns by hand, using locally found materials and difficult hand-techniques. Their designs enrich cottons, silks and wool.
This jacket is made by this group of artisans, who are specially abled, and trained by Aranya Naturals, nestled among picture-perfect tea plantations in the hills of Munnar, Kerela.
The idea grew out of a need to provide training and employment for the specially abled children of tea plantation workers.
The artisans are trained by world-renowned artists and natural dyers and are now expert dyers and craftspeople themselves.
Aranya artists up-cycle, re-cycle, and use other sustainable and ethical methods tocreate their art, including the way in which they dispose of waste.
