Obi Tuck Pants — Rang

Inspired by the Indian “salwar” pant, this Obi tuck pant is more fitted, but allows for total movement, and is very comfortable. An origami-style tuck in the lower leg gives a beautifully structured shape to these otherwise loose pants. 

Pair with a simple tee or shirt for an everyday chic look, or wear with an oversized robe, kaftan or dress for a unique, stylish look. I love them with the  hem rolled up too!

Any irregularities are inherent are part of the design and inherent to the handcrafted process of this product, making it beautifully unique. 

Material:  

Material: 100% cotton, handsupun, yarn-dyed with natural dyes and handwoven

Handfeel: soft, delicately textured, and becoming deliciously softer with wear

Care: Please handwash or machine wash (on delicate cycle) separately in cold water using a mild detergent. Do not soak, rub or wring. Drip dry in shade. Store in a dark place. Colors may bleed slightly on first couple of washes. 

This cotton is entirely handmade. Once the cotton bolls have been harvested they are carded to remove any debris. This is done using a manual or semi-mechanized process. It is a time-consuming task because the cotton fibers have to be carded several tmes. 

The cleaned fiber is then spun into yarn using a charkha (spinning wheel) or a spindle. This yarn in measured and prepared for the loom, which is itself a lengthy process. The cloth is then handwoven on a loom. 

Not only is cloth that is made this way environmentally friendly, it also maintains the intrinsic properties of cotton which are usually damaged during machine processing. The weave creates air pockets which make it cool in summer and warm in winter and its inherent strength make is highly durable. The semi-slubbed texture adds authenticity, variety and richness to the cloth that is not found in machine-processed cotton.
